Please Note: If you are intending to travel within the next seven days you should purchase your tickets from the ticket office on the day. This is because we cannot guarantee that tickets posted will reach you in time.

Experience 'more than just a train ride' as you join us on a scenic journey through 10 miles of beautiful Hampshire countryside, where visitors of all ages can savour the unique sights, sounds and smells of steam travel!

Our standard fare gives you unlimited all day travel so that you can explore our stations at your leisure. You can even take a stroll around Alton or New Alresford towns and re-enter on the same travel ticket, so arrive early and enjoy a great day out! The ticket is valid for 12 months from the date of booking, so you do not need to specify a day of travel.

Check our 'Opening Times' to see when the trains are running - on coloured days only - and this will also give you a link to the train timetables. Off peak the railway runs an alternate steam and heritage diesel service, so get up right by the diesel driver for a unique view of the track ahead! You are welcome to visit the Watercress Line for free on non-running (white coloured) days to have a look around the stations or grab a bite to eat in the buffet at Alresford station - we simply ask for a small donation to help keep the railway running.

PLEASE NOTE:

Standard travel tickets are NOT valid for any special event days such as 'Day Out With Thomas', Wizard Week, Steam Galas, Santa Specials, etc. Please check the opening times on our TIMETABLE & EVENTS page before purchasing your standard travel ticket, as ticket prices differ on most special event days and they have their own booking and information pages. Please also note that some special events run to our standard timetable but are still classed as a special event due to the added activities during your visit.
